How we look after
your details.

Buguge English runs this site and the lessons booked through it. If you have a question about your details, write to us at carmen@bugutail.cn.

When you book a lesson we ask who is learning, whether it’s you or your child, the course, the starting level you pick, the teacher you choose if you choose one, and the lesson time. We read your time zone from your browser so times are shown correctly.

We ask for your name and email address, or, for a child, the parent or guardian’s name and email address together with the child’s first name and age group. We never ask for a child’s email address. If you tell us anything under “Anything we should know?”, we keep that too.

We use these details to book and run your lesson: to send the confirmation email with a calendar file and a link to manage or cancel the lesson, to send a reminder before it, and so your teacher can see the details and prepare and teach. If you write to us, we use your details to reply.

Kids English is for children aged 4 to 12. We ask only for a child’s first name and age group, which their teacher needs to plan a lesson that suits them. When you book for a child we ask you to confirm that you are the child’s parent or guardian and that you agree to these details being used to arrange the lesson, and we record when you confirmed.

The teacher of the lesson and the academy’s owner can see your booking details. Our hosting provider stores them and our email provider delivers our emails, on our behalf. We do not sell your details or use them for advertising.

We remove a booking’s name, email address, child’s name and notes 12 months after the lesson, and its manage link stops working from then on. The rest of the booking stays: the course, teacher and time of the lesson, your time zone, the child’s age group, the starting level, and when consent was given. We don’t keep copies of the emails we send, or the address they went to, once they have gone. If an email can’t be delivered, we keep the address it was for and the reason for 30 days so we can put it right. We delete records of failed sign-in attempts and password reset requests, including the email address and IP address on them, 24 hours after they happen.

You can ask us to show you your details, correct them, or delete them, and a parent or guardian can withdraw consent for their child, by writing to carmen@bugutail.cn. Once a booking’s details are deleted its manage link stops working. You can cancel your own lesson at any time through its manage link.

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Teachers and the academy owner who sign in get cookies that keep them signed in. If you pause the site’s motion, your browser remembers that choice on your device.

Our web server keeps a short technical log of the page requested, the time, the browser, and your IP address with its last part removed, to keep the site working and secure. We keep these logs for no longer than 30 days. To prevent abuse we also count requests from each IP address for a short time, kept only in memory.

Pages are served over an encrypted connection. Only the academy’s staff can sign in to see bookings, and passwords are stored as salted hashes.

If we change this notice, we update the date at the top.
